Insert, or partial tooling, is a concept that allows our customers to get into an injection molded part with minimal tooling expenses. An insert tool consists of just a cavity (or even up to 8 cavities) and a means of ejecting the part from the mold. These partial tools are usually made of mild steel but can be made from harder materials like stainless steel or P-20. These cavities are then  placed in a UPI owned mold base for use in a conventional molding machine.  This process can save THOUSANDS of  $$ when prototyping or for low volume molding.

Sleeves and Simple Grommets

One of the most popular use of the insert tool is for IDxOD bushings and grommets. Items with maximum OD of 2.00" and a maximum length of 2.375" can utilize 1-4 cavities in one of our two "Stripper Bases".

Rectangular Parts, or parts up to 3" Diameter

Parts of this nature work nicely in 1 of 2 mold bases containing an 4.5"x4.5" insert size.  A part thickness up to  0.5" can be accommodated.  A third mold base is also available for a 5"x 7" insert
